What is FUR/HELP?

FUR/HELP is an EU-based non-profit initiative that benefits LGBTQIA+ asylum seekers and refugees from the post-soviet areas, as well as American transgender people in danger. Founded in November 2022 by a human rights trans activist YukiDeer, FUR/HELP emerged from the urgent need to support those fleeing violence, discrimination, and death threats in their home countries simply for being who they are.

We envision a future where no one must choose between authenticity and safety, as help has no borders.

We have helped more than 25 people escape persecution, torture and inhumane treatment, as well as settle in the third countries, while they wait for a way to apply for asylum.

Our Values, Vision, and Mission

Introduction

Our values shape our each step and decision as a nonprofit. These values reflect our commitment to being the most human LGBTQIA+ organization in the world and to meet the purpose of promoting human rights worldwide. As a refugee-centric nonprofit, our values benefit those that we help the most, meaning refugees and asylum seekers. They inspire our action, unite us in a pursuit of a shared vision, a future where we face no discrimination.

Our Vision

To be earth’s most human LGBTQIA+ Initiative We fight for each of our refugees and make sure they get to a safe haven.

Our Values

Rights for every human

We stand for rights of each human being, as only then we would be able to achieve universal respect for the human rights. At the same time, we oppose the misuse or exploitation of rights that could undermine freedom or enable control at the expense of justice.

Responsibility for Each Action

We take responsibility for each action or decision, regardless of its scale or significance. This commitment to ownership ensures that we approach each choice with intention and care, recognizing that even the smallest decisions contribute to our broader goals and values. We foster trust, integrity, and growth.

Amplifying Voices

We are deeply committed to elevating and amplifying marginalized voices that are often overlooked or silenced in today’s world. We create a platform where diverse perspectives, especially those from underrepresented communities, can be heard, valued, and celebrated. Without censorship, without showing only pretty, convenient or oversimplified aspects.

Planning Before Action

In addition to responsibility, we extensively plan each grand action before we act on it. We make sure to hear from everyone in FUR/HELP before we act on something that would affect us in a major way.

Building a Safe Community

We are committed to building a safespace for marginalized people. We aim to not restrict their freedom of expression, but also respect the dignity and choice of others, without the need to conform them to a “specific standard” or preach ideas to them. Instead, letting them choose on their own in a spirit of democracy.
